JENKINS BEACH IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Inclusive beach, retreat, and camp rentals on Green Lake in Dedham, Maine

Jenkins Beach changed ownership for the 2023 season. Don’t worry, it’s staying in the Jenkins family… just as it has been since 1940! 2023 was a rebuilding year for us, which impacted how and when folks could access the beach. Please keep an eye on this page for updates on our plans for the 2024 season!

We have changed ownership!

Below we answer some frequently asked questions since we’ve made the transition

  • For generations, our family has shared our love and care for the natural environment of Green Lake with visitors to our beach. You may have already heard that Jenkins Beach is under new management and ownership this year. You will be pleased to know that the business is remaining in the Jenkins family. Joe’s daughter Julie Jenkins will be assuming ownership and operations of the business, and our family will be running the beach in the future.

Jenkins Beach is a family-owned business that has endured since 1940, and our commitment to operating the beach as a space that is welcoming to all—where people can appreciate and respect the wonder and beauty of Green Lake—will continue. We are committed to ensuring not only the legacy of the business, but the sanctity and uniqueness of the natural environment.

2023 was a transitional year for Jenkins Beach and we are still working out the details of what 2024 will look like. We are working with local agencies to open the beach for day-camp use for groups of folks who might not otherwise have access to such a unique and enriching experience. We appreciate your continued patience and understanding as cleanup, construction, and rebuilding work continues at the beach.

We will still be offering camps for rent this year, but we will also spend much of the summer making substantive changes to the beach, the landscape, and the camps themselves. Each camp will undergo significant upgrades and renovations this season (including structural work, furniture and design upgrades, and the addition of Internet services and added amenities to each camp).

Like you, we have many wonderful memories of our time at Jenkins Beach. Not only did Julie grow up there, but we were also married at the beach and our 7 year old, Parker, has spent every summer of his life there. It is a magical place. We hope to continue to honor the legacy that Joe built making this a space that is open and welcoming to all those who are also open and welcoming to all.

Please check back for updates on when and how the beach will be available to the public for the 2024 summer season!

  • We recently changed booking systems. You can see up-to-date listing for which camps are available to rent and make a reservation for the 2024 season by clicking the “Book A Camp Now” button on this page.

  • Due to the damage done to the boat launch by both the storm and the massive shifts in ice, THE BOAT LAUNCH WILL NOT BE OPEN THIS SPRING. We are working to repair the damage and will provide updates once the launch is accessible to the public again.
