JENKINS BEACH IS CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Beach, retreat, and camp rentals on Green Lake in Dedham, Maine

The past couple summers were rebuilding years for Jenkins Beach. We have worked on so many exciting improvements and renovations to the property. The beach remains closed to the public, but our newly completely remodeled camps and cottages are still available for rent! These rentals fill up quickly, so be sure to book your stay for 2025 now!

Jenkins Beach is a private recreational use lakefront property located on Green Lake in Dedham, Maine. The Jenkins family has owned the beach since 1940, and over the years thousands have visited to enjoy the pristine wonder of Green Lake. Last year, Julie bought the business from her father and over the past two summers we have engaged in extensive renovations of the property.

In addition to completely revitalizing and modernizing the camps, we have also hired an environmental consultant to assist in our landscaping and cleanup plan that centers native flora, supports local fauna, and helps ensure the ecological health of the lake for the future.

The beach includes over 200’ of sandy lakefront access. We have 34 canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards and multiple docks for guests to use. We also contract with a local boat rental agency if guests wish to rent a pontoon boat for the day or week.

The entire property has high-speed WiFi coverage, the camps all have multiple SmartTVs, there is plenty of free parking, and we can accommodate EV charging as well.

The swimming at Jenkins Beach is unparalleled (where guests can enjoy our two water trampolines and docks), the deep waters of Green Lake offer some of the best fishing in New England, the beach is the perfect place to play and relax during sunny summer days, and the fall foliage in the area is absolutely spectacular. We are also located just 27 miles from the natural wonders of Acadia National Park.

The beach remains closed to the public as we complete projects here on the property. This means that guests enjoy the unique experience of having a one-of-a-kind private beach on a lake in Maine during their stay.

Jenkins Beach is a business that strives and works to be a safe and accessible space for all. We believe in and support racial justice, gender equity, and LGBTQ+ rights. We welcome all those who respect others.

The boat launch remains open for the 2025 season.

We have changed ownership!

Below we answer some frequently asked questions since we’ve made the transition

  • 2023 & 2024 were transitional years for Jenkins Beach. That has unfortunately meant that the beach has been closed to the public during our renovations and improvements. In addition to continuing construction projects at the beach—including the completion of public restrooms that are necessary for public use of any kind—we are also still developing a plan for how and when we will open the beach for public use.

This year, we are working with local agencies to open the beach for day-camp use for groups of folks who might not otherwise have access to such a unique and enriching experience.

We are also still offering camps and cottages for rent this year. Each camp has benefited from significant upgrades and renovations (including structural work, furniture and design upgrades, and the addition of Internet services and added amenities to each camp).

Like you, we have many wonderful memories of our time at Jenkins Beach. Not only did Julie grow up there, but we were also married at the beach. Our 8 year old, Parker, has spent every summer of his life here. It is a magical place. We hope to continue to honor the legacy that Joe built making this a space that is open and welcoming to all those who are also open and welcoming to all.

  • We recently changed booking systems. You can see up-to-date listing for which camps are available to rent and make a reservation for the 2024 season by clicking the “Book A Camp Now” button on this page. The camps are all now true three-season rentals! Autumn at the lake is the most beautiful and serene time to enjoy a beachside getaway. Not only is the kayaking here on Green Lake lovely and the leaves are in their full glory, but the drive the Acadia National Park is much shorter and the experience on the Island is much less crowded.

  • THE BOAT LAUNCH IS OPEN!

The price of launch is $10 per boat ($5 for kayaks, canoes, or paddle boards). We accept cash (if we aren’t here, please put it on the lockbox) or payment by Venmo or PayPal.

Please reach out to us if you are interested in a season pass.

  • We will not be renting boats this year.
